Travel

SAC 2013 takes place at the Burnaby campus of Simon Fraser University, which is located 20 kilometres east of downtown Vancouver, BC. Unless you arrive by car, travel to Vancouver and then take local transportation. Please consult our Conference Venues and Accommodations pages for maps of the conference location and reserved accommodations.

Air

The closest domestic and international airport is Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The campus is located about 30 kilometers north-east of YVR.

Train and Bus

Amtrak runs trains and buses between Eugene, OR and Vancouver, BC. There are extra services between Seattle, WA and Vancouver, BC. The schedules can be viewed here. Make sure that you do not travel to Vancouver, WA which also lies on this line.

Car

Drive on Highway #1 (Trans-Canada Highway) and take exit 37. Drive north on Gaglardi Way to the campus. If you stay on campus, it is easiest to park the car near Simon Hotel and residence rooms; parking needs to be arranged with the hotel/residence front desk and it costs approximately $5/day. If you do not stay on campus and you want to drive to the conference, please use Visitor Parking Lot B, marked "Visitors' Parking (VB Lot)" on our conference map, just to the east of the Applied Sciences Building. The cost is $13/day (credit card needed).

Local Transportation

From Vancouver International Airport to campus: Taxi costs about $65. Public transport: Take Canada Line of SkyTrain from YVR Airport to Waterfront station. Take bus 135 from the intersection of W Hastings Street and Granville Street to SFU.

From Pacific Central Station (Amtrak and VIA Rail terminus) to campus: Take bus 3 or 8 or 19 northbound to the intersection of E Hastings Street and Main Street. Take bus 135 to SFU.

From campus to downtown Vancouver: Take bus 135.
